Week 2: December 8 - 14
- Immaculate Conception -
At the start of this month, parents should read the essays on pages 249 - 250 of the Parent’s Guide.
To give your family plenty of time to celebrate the mysteries that you are studying this month, the content is brief yet powerful!
Learn about the Holy Habit of Attending Sunday Mass and consider how to practice it in your own life and help your children to do the same.
Use those essays to help you talk with the family about what they learned last week during the in person session.
Why would God become man?
How did God keep His promise to humanity?
How can we prepare for and celebrate Jesus’ birth in a new way this December?
This week, focus on the Immaculate Conception.
The very best way to do so is by making plans to go to Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. More information on that is found below!
We would also recommend using Activity 3 on Pages 86 - 88 of the Parent’s Guide.
Make a plan to go to Confession as a family to prepare your hearts to welcome Jesus this Christmas.
Regularly scheduled times for Confession are found on the Pastorate website.
In addition to those, there are two opportunities for Candlelight Adoration with Confessions available this Advent.
Wednesday, December 4th, 6:00 - 8:00pm at St. Mary of the Lake, Westport
Wednesday, December 18th, 6:00 - 8:00pm at St. Michael, Dane
Make plans to go to Mass for the Immaculate Conception!
The celebration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is coming up on December 8th. Because it falls on a Sunday, its celebration and the obligation to attend Mass that day transfers to Monday the 9th. All Catholics should attend Mass once for the Sunday obligation and once for the Solemnity obligation. While, you can attend Mass twice on Sunday (a morning Mass for Sunday and an evening Mass for the Immaculate Conception), just attending an evening Mass on Sunday would only fulfill one of the obligations.
